  • 2 cups of rice

  • 1 tsp of grated ginger
  • 2-3 green chilies
  • 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp of red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp of coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp of salt

Equipment:

  • Pressure cooker
  • Pan
  • Spatula

Method:

  1. Wash the rice and add it to the pressure cooker along with water. Cook for 2-3 whistles and let it cool.
  2. In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and peanuts. Fry until the peanuts turn golden brown.
  3. Add grated ginger and green chilies and fry for a minute.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  5. Now add the tamarind juice and mix well. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add the cooked rice and mix well with the tamarind mixture.
  7. Cover the pan and cook for 5-10 minutes on low heat.
  8. Turn off the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

Notes:

You can also add curry leaves, cashews, and raisins to enhance the flavor.

Method:

  1. Wash the rice and dal and add it to the pressure cooker along with water. Cook for 3-4 whistles and let it cool.
  2. In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and green chilies. Fry until the mustard seeds splutter.
  3. Add grated ginger and fry for a minute.
  4. Add chopped onions and fry until they turn translucent.
  5. Add chopped vegetables and fry for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  7. Now add the tamarind juice and mix well. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Add the cooked rice and dal and mix well with the vegetable mixture.
  9. Cover the pan and cook for 5-10 minutes on low heat.
  10. Turn off the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
