Method

  1. Rinse the lentils and rice thoroughly and set them aside.
  2. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.

  5. Add minced garlic and ginger and sauté for a minute.
  6. Add coriander powder and garam masala and sauté for a minute.
  7. Add the rinsed lentils and rice to the pot and mix well.

  9. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to low.
  10. Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the lentils and rice are cooked.
  11. Remove the pot from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
