  • Bowl to mix the yogurt and rice

Method

  1. Cook the rice in a pressure cooker or pot and let it cool down.
  2. In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, and chana dal.
  3. When the mustard seeds start to pop, add grated ginger, chopped green chili, and curry leaves.
  4. Saute for a few seconds and then add turmeric powder and red chili powder.
  5. Add salt to taste and mix well.
  6. Turn off the heat and let the seasoning cool down.
  7. In a bowl, whisk the plain yogurt until it becomes smooth.
  8. Add the cooked rice to the yogurt and mix well.
  9. Add the seasoning to the yogurt and rice mixture and mix well.
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  11. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
