Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of dark soya sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • A rice cooker
  • A chopping board and knife
  • A mixing bowl

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken

  • Clean the chicken and remove any excess fat and skin.
  • Cut the chicken into small pieces and season with salt and pepper.
  • Peel and slice the ginger and garlic.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat and sauté the ginger and garlic until fragrant.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the pot and sauté until lightly browned.
  • Add 6 cups of water to the pot and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the chicken pieces and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Rice

  • Wash the rice and drain well.
  • Add the rice to a rice cooker with 3 cups of the chicken broth.
  • Cook the rice according to the rice cooker instructions.

Step 3: Prepare the Soya Sauce

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the light soya sauce, dark soya sauce, sesame oil, and scallions.
  • Mix well and set aside.

Step 4: Assemble the Dish

  • Arrange the chicken pieces on a serving plate.
  • Spoon the soya sauce over the chicken.
  • Serve the chicken with the fragrant rice.
