Method
- Soak the glutinous rice flour in water for 10 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the soaked glutinous rice flour, 1/4 cup of coconut milk, and sugar. Mix until the dough forms.
- Roll the dough into small balls using your hands.
- Steam the rice balls for 10 to 15 minutes or until they become slightly translucent.
- While steaming the rice balls, cook the sweet potato and taro in a separate pot until they are soft.
- In another saucepan, bring 2 cups of water and 1 cup of coconut milk to a boil.
- Add the cooked sweet potato and taro to the boiling soup base.
- Once the rice balls are done steaming, add them to the soup base.
- Serve hot in individual bowls.
Notes
- Make sure to cover the steamer with a lid to keep the steam inside.
- The rice balls will expand while steaming, so make sure to leave enough space between them.
- The sweet potato and taro can be substituted with other fruits, such as jackfruit or banana.
