Ingredients

  • 1 cup of corn kernels
  • 1 cup of rice

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups of water
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Equipment

  • A pressure cooker or a pot with a lid
  • A pan
  • A spoon
  • A knife
  • A cutting board

Method

1. Rinse the rice in water and soak it for 20 minutes.
2. In a pan, heat oil over medium heat.
3. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let them splutter.
4. Add chopped onion and green chilies and saute until the onion turns translucent.
5. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute.
6. Add corn kernels, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
7. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Mix well.
8. Add 2 cups of water and mix well.
9. Close the pressure cooker or pot with a lid and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes.
10. Once the rice is cooked, remove it from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
11. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.

  • You can use fresh or frozen corn kernels for this recipe.
  • You can adjust the spice level according to your taste.
  • You can add vegetables like peas and carrots to make it more nutritious.
